Georgia’s Pergola - First Attempt

We were asked to paint an image from an unusual perspective, in the spirit of how Georgia O’Keeffe would explore objects from different perspectives. I chose this image of a pergola that I designed almost two decades ago and was photographed at the time by my Sr. Associate and long time friend David Rizzolo. I had developed this first painting for about seven evenings but lost it due to severe smudges on the upper trellis against the sky. Aggravated I put is aside and started again with the Georgia’s Pergola - Second Attempt! When I was done with that I took the damaged painting out and attempted to repaint it against a starlit sky.
