Founded in 1988, Andreozzi Architecture specializes in a modern evolution of traditional and classical residential architecture; respective of its sense of place, attentive to its detail and proportion, and timeless in its beauty. Shingle style, traditional, and classical commissions exist from Commonwealth Avenue, to the shores throughout New England, to the Bahamian Islands. Completed projects have won multiple AIA awards and have been featured in over seventy books, magazines, and newspapers including the Wall Street Journal, House Beautiful, Ocean Home, Traditional Building, Yankee Magazine, Period Homes, Old House, ICAA Classicist, New England Home, and many others.
Top 50 Traditional Architects in the World Ocean Home | Top 50 Coastal Architects
David Andreozzi has been honored internationally as one of the “Top 50 Traditional Architects in the World” by the Institute of Traditional Architecture for fifteen years running and recognized annually in Ocean Home Magazine’s honored list: “Top 50 Coastal Architects.” David was also named one of Traditional Building Magazine’s Annual “Top 25 Leaders in Traditional Design and Preservation”. David Andreozzi is currently on the leadership boards of Lutyens Trust America and New England Institute of Classical Architecture and Art (ICAA) where he served as president. In recognition of his contributions, David received an ICAA Bulfinch Award for his stewardship of the organization and also honored with a formal citation by the AIA for his national leadership. David spent years teaching the value of good design, participated on historic district commissions, and is a regular invitee to awards juries including a record three-time Palladio Award Judge, the most honored award given to classical and traditional design.
In addition to the pursuit of exploring modernity with respect of history and tradition, decades of designing custom homes in coastal conditions and historic communities have allowed our team to master the process of shepherding projects through the complex myriad of government agencies with regards to historic preservation, historic districts, planning boards, coastal and environmental regulations, state and national codes, flood zone expertise, coastal resiliency, and the latest emerging sciences and technologies.
While many of our clients are drawn to us for our award-winning shingle style and New England historic homes, the size of a project or cost per square foot is irrelevant in our quest to finding and producing successful projects. Our goal is to collaborate with patrons that appreciate the “art in architecture” … irrespective of budget.
David Andreozzi, a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, is the son of a second-generation contractor and an interior decorator. David grew up working on construction sites learning all aspects of construction from artisans. During this time David mastered framing, fine carpentry, drafting, bidding, and running complex jobs. At RISD David received a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Architecture, with an additional concentration in woodworking from RISD’s Furniture Design program. David continued with his practical education at Shope Reno Wharton in Greenwich, CT in the mid-eighties, one of the leading shingle style architectural firms in the country. From pencil to hammer, David was expertly experienced in residential construction first and architecture second. David’s crossover into the fine arts has produced custom lighting, furniture, clocks, four decades of stained-glass commissions, and he is an avid watercolorist. His paintings are featured on this website HERE.
Everyone at Andreozzi Architecture works in small groups in direct partnership with David Andreozzi throughout all phases of the architectural process. David’s hand is part of every aspect of every project from the overall proportions of the facades to the details of the moldings on the mantles. As a team, our goal is to organize and simplify the various aspects of the design and construction administration, coordinate the various consultants, and ensure that the final project exceeds all of our client’s desires. In the end, our projects read as one unified whole from the setting of the landscape, to the form and space of the architecture, to the interior design. The success of our approach can be seen both in the history of repeat clients and in the awards, magazines publications, books, and television features our body of work has accumulated over the years.
